Chapoutier trip + Burgundy - France - Sept. 12-21, 2006

Day 7 - Burgundy

Chateau Clos de Vougeot in the Clos de Vougeot vinyard - the largest grand cru in Burgundy.  The chateau was built in 1551.  The vineyard was founded in 1098.

At Romanee-Conti - the exclusive monopole (one-owner - Domaine de la Romanee-Conti) that produces generally the most expensive wine in the world.  I think the 2002 was in the neighborhood of $18K/case on release.  The vineyard is not prominently marked and took a little effort to locate.  It's approximate 2 acres produce an average of 450 cases per year.

A hillside view of more Cotes de Nuits vineyards - I don't recall where this was exactly.

I believe this is the same spot looking in the other direction - and the town in the distance is Vosne-Romanee
