Chapoutier trip + Burgundy - France - Sept. 12-21, 2006

Day 5 - Burgundy

The Saturday morning market in Beaune (some of that annoying lens cover shadow again):

We bought lots of great cheese here:

Some of this vendor's sausages moved me to tears.  The really pink one in the center is beef tongue.  I did not really care for that one.  The greenish colored one below on the cutting board was a lean herb crusted beef that was incredible.  I bought one but sadly it never made it to the table so I never got to consume it.

Lunch in the courtyard at Domaine Voarick:

The vista in back of the hotel.  I'm taking a walk up the hill after lunch.

The hill and vinyards of Corton.  Corton-Charlemagne is below the tree line.

Domaine Voarick's Corton-Charlemagne vines:

The view from the top.  That's Aloxe-Corton at center, from whence I came.  The town of Beaune is in the distance.

Some of the finest Chardonnay made anywhere comes from these Corton-Charlemagne grapes.
